The effect of economic contexts can influence both media products and their processes such as the BBC's music policy.

One policy that effects the audience of the BBC is the licence fee, this fee is basically the tax you have to pay every year to fund governmental funded channels (everything by the BBC). Some members of the public disagree with having to pay this fee as they do not use or listen to anything by the BBC this has lead to a lot of people being fined up to £1000 and around 6% of UK adults do not pay for this licence. This influences the public dislike towards these channels due to being forced to pay the fee because of this the BBC radio has to try many ways to encourage people to listen to their channels and have to fine ways to keep audiences engaged they do this by using celebrity endorsement and presenting the 'yesterday quiz' were people can call in and take part live on the radio.

Another thing that the BBC radio do is use young artist who are trying to make a name for themselves for example the British artist Tom Walker has appeared on the radio many times to perform his music, this allows artist to have a platform to stand on as they peruse their curers in music.
